Hyacinth vases with floral and fruit applications, attributed to Kralik, Bohemia. Many of such vases are called hyacinth vases but are because of the shape not really suitable for forcing hyacinths, These however are suitable. A rare Bohemian hyacinth vase with a carved image of a  running deer on one side (picture left) and flying pigeon (picture right) on the other side. A survey of many ‘belly shaped’ hyacinth vases, most of them made in Bohemia (now the Czech republic for the greater part) for the British market. Many of them are in opaline glass with enamel decorations.
